Ex-Corrie star Catherine Tyldesley has taken to social media to share a humorous meme after cancelling her 40th birthday bash due to the ‘cakegate’ scandal.
The former Strictly contestant has faced a tough month after being embroiled in a heated online backlash when a PR firm approached an independent bakery to supply free cakes for her bash.
Tyldesley has since opted for a quieter celebration of the milestone birthday. She posted a meme of a frazzled-looking Barbie doll with disheveled hair, smudged makeup, and panda eyes, captioning it: ‘Me trying to work, go to the gym, stay hydrated, not be broke, maintain a social life, and get 8 hours of sleep every night.’

Posting a video on her social media account titled ‘Cakegate – The Truth, Tyldesley told her 646,000 followers: ‘Cakegate, what? So, I had no idea those emails were being sent.

The bakery owner Rebecca Severs, 37, had been approached by party planners NVRLND with an order for bespoke cakes and 100 cupcakes, but was asked to provide them for free in exchange for social media exposure.
Rebecca later joked that her bakery provides ‘delicious cakes and a generous side of sarcasm when necessary.’ She has since received a flood of support from the public online.
