Enzo Fernandez Video Exposes Argentina’s Copa America Winners’ Racist Chant

The Argentina national football team is facing intense criticism after a video surfaced of the players singing a racist chant following their Copa America victory over Colombia on Sunday night.

In a video posted by midfielder Enzo Fernandez on Instagram Live, the team can be seen celebrating their win on the bus, singing an infamous song that first emerged during the 2022 World Cup Final against France.

The chant includes lyrics about how France’s players were “all from Angola” and made explicit references to one of the French players, using offensive and transphobic language.

Fernandez, a Chelsea player, ended the Instagram Live shortly after the racist chant began, but not before capturing the ugly side of the team’s post-match celebrations.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many calling out the team for their behavior. “Argentinians are disgusting,” wrote one user, while another called Fernandez a “useless footballer and human being.”

Only one player on the French squad for the 2022 World Cup, Eduardo Camavinga, was born in Angola. Additionally, Colombia’s starting lineup on Sunday included several black players, including forward Jhon Cordoba, midfielder Jefferson Lerma, and defender Davinson Sanchez.

Following the break, Fernandez will return to his club, Chelsea, which is captained by Reece James, a black player.

The Argentine Football Association is yet to address the controversial video, which has now been viewed by millions online.
