Recent court documents revealed that Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, was arrested in Texas last month for driving with an invalid license. This incident occurred just five months after he was charged with allegedly driving under the influence in the same county.
According to the records, Mahomes Sr. received a ticket for driving with an invalid license around 8:30 p.m. on June 29. He was also given a warning for disregarding traffic signs, indicating a potential moving violation. The 53-year-old is expected to appear before a judge by July 31.

Mahomes Sr. has been formally charged with ‘Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More’ in Smith County, Texas, according to online court records. The former MLB relief pitcher faces a potential 10-year sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
This is not his first encounter with the law. Mahomes Sr. was previously arrested by Tyler, Texas, police in February for drunk driving, marking his third DUI-related charge. In 2019, he was sentenced to 40 days in jail for a similar offense.
When asked about his father’s legal troubles during the Super Bowl opening night in Las Vegas, the younger Mahomes chose to keep the matter private. “It’s a family issue, so I’ll handle it within the family,” he told reporters. “That’s all I have to say.”

Mahomes Sr., a divorced father of four, had a successful baseball career, playing 11 seasons in the MLB. He primarily served as a reliever and posted a 5.34 ERA. His passion for baseball was inherited by his son, who was a high school baseball star in Texas and is now a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals.
Mahomes Sr.’s former Minnesota Twins teammate, retired reliever LaTroy Hawkins, is also the godfather of Mahomes II, showcasing the strong bond between the two families.
The recent developments come at a busy time for Mahomes II, who has been collecting accolades for his outstanding performance on the field. He recently won his second consecutive Super Bowl MVP title and was named the Best NFL Player and Best Athlete in Men’s Sports at the ESPY Awards.
