Ariana Grande is offering her unwavering support to her brother, Frankie Grande, as he recovers from rhinoplasty.
On July 6, Frankie, 41, shared an Instagram selfie showcasing his bandaged nose and bruised eyes post-surgery, accompanied by the caption, “New nose. Who dis?” Ariana, 31, promptly expressed her love and admiration in the comments, writing, “Perfect in all ways, always.”
On July 8, Frankie provided his 2 million followers with an encouraging update on his recovery journey. He shared a photo carousel of his outing in New York City, where he proudly displayed a beige bandage on his nose. The series of snapshots included a heartwarming picture of Frankie and his husband, Hale Grande, riding the subway, as well as tender moments with his mother, Joan Grande, and actress Deborah Cox after enjoying a performance of The Wiz on Broadway.
Frankie’s Instagram followers showered him with support and humor. One user playfully remarked, “New nose got a better life than me already,” while another celebrated his transparency, commenting, “I love how surgery isn’t shamed anymore. Do what makes you feel good!”
This summer also marked a significant milestone for Frankie as he celebrated seven years of sobriety. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, he opened up about his transformative journey.
Reflecting on his sobriety, Frankie shared, “I definitely wouldn’t have the relationship that I have with my family right now if I wasn’t sober. I wouldn’t have the career that I have right now if I wasn’t sober. I wouldn’t be on the board of GLAAD. I wouldn’t be inspiring other people to live their truth out loud and proud. I would be dead, so I’m very grateful and very happy.”
Frankie previously identified the “rock bottom” moment that catalyzed his journey toward recovery. It was the tragic bombing at Ariana’s concert in Manchester, England, in May 2017, which claimed the lives of 22 individuals. This devastating event pushed him deeper into addiction and further away from his loved ones. However, with Ariana’s encouragement, he found the strength to seek treatment for his addictions.
Frankie acknowledged the pivotal role that his sister played in his recovery, saying, “My sister was the first person that I told that I needed help, and she was the one that got me into treatment… She’s been my best friend through it all. Of course, my mother has given me nothing but unwavering support.”
As for Ariana, she is set to enchant audiences in the upcoming film adaptation of Wicked, where she will portray Glinda opposite Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba. Frankie, who had the privilege of visiting the set during filming, shared his excitement about the movie, promising that it will be well worth the wait.
“I got to see 14 minutes of the film during a marketing event, and it was incredible,” Frankie gushed. “No CGI, no color correction, no nothing — and it was the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life. I was weeping.” He confidently added, “It’s gonna be the best thing ever.”
