It had been nearly two decades since Travis Barker last welcomed a newborn into his life, and now, eight months after becoming a father again to his baby boy, the feeling is still just as sweet. Barker, who welcomed his son Rocky with his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, in November 2023, is embracing fatherhood with open arms.
“There’s nothing more fulfilling than bringing a life into this world,” the 48-year-old Blink-182 drummer gushed in a recent interview with People magazine. He reflected on his journey into parenthood, which began when he became a father figure to his stepdaughter, Atiana De La Hoya, when she was an infant. Now 25, Atiana has had Barker in her life for most of her childhood.
Barker also shared two biological children, son Landon, 20, and daughter Alabama, 18, with his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler. Despite the 17-year gap since he last had a newborn, Barker finds the experience “just as good” as he remembered. “Being a dad is my favorite thing,” he confessed, adding that it’s his “favorite accomplishment” and something he takes pride in doing every day.
The musician recalled the joy he felt when he first learned he was having a son, Landon, and how it inspired him to take better care of himself. “I had this urge to be the best version of myself,” he said, a sentiment that has stayed with him throughout his parenting journey.
Kardashian, who brought three children of her own into their blended family, experienced a challenging birth with Rocky, requiring emergency fetal surgery due to fluid in the baby’s lungs. Thankfully, everything turned out well, and the couple now enjoys life with their seven children.
Kardashian and Barker started dating in late 2020 and confirmed their relationship in January 2021. They had an unofficial wedding in Las Vegas in April 2022 and made it legal the following month in Santa Barbara, California, followed by a religious ceremony in Portofino, Italy. In November 2023, they welcomed their son, Rocky, into the world.
