Newcastle ‘in Discussions with Saudi Pros for Offloading Talented Winger’ as the Club Continues to Trim its Roster.

There are reports of ongoing discussions between Newcastle and a Saudi Pro-League club regarding the potential transfer of Paraguayan winger, Miguel Almiron.

The transfer window is now officially open, and clubs have until August 30 to finalize any moves. Newcastle recently confirmed the departures of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to Nottingham Forest and Brighton, respectively, in deals worth a combined £68 million. These last-minute sales were crucial in helping the club avoid a potential points deduction for failing to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Now, it seems another player could be on their way out of St. James’ Park. According to Sky Sports, Newcastle is in talks with an unnamed Saudi club about a potential deal for Almiron. The 30-year-old winger joined Newcastle from MLS side Atlanta United in January 2019 for a fee exceeding £20 million. He signed a new three-year contract extension in February 2023, keeping him at the club until June 2026.

Newcastle is reportedly in talks with a Saudi club regarding the transfer of Miguel Almiron.

Almiron enjoyed a productive first full season at Newcastle, scoring nine goals. However, he found the net only five times in the following two seasons combined. The arrival of manager Eddie Howe seemed to rejuvenate Almiron’s career, as he scored 11 goals in the 2022-23 campaign. Despite remaining a regular starter last season, his goal tally dropped to just three in 33 Premier League appearances, and he struggled with a knee injury towards the end of the season.

With the club looking to balance their books and avoid further sanctions, Almiron’s potential departure could provide a financial boost. However, no official announcement has been made yet, and the identity of the interested Saudi club remains unknown.

As the transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see if any further developments occur regarding Almiron’s future and whether Newcastle can secure a suitable fee for the Paraguayan international.
