SZA delivered a heartwarming shout-out to North West, the daughter of Kim Kardashian, during her performance at Summerfest. The singer took a brief pause from her set to say, “Hi Northie!” as captured in a video shared by Kardashian on her Instagram Story.
North, who recently turned 11, has been enjoying a fun-filled summer. Just days before her appearance at Summerfest with her mom, she was spotted at Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert in Inglewood, California. A social media video captured North singing along to Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a diss track aimed at Drake, with her friends in the audience.
Prior to these concert outings, North celebrated her birthday on June 15 at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey. Kardashian shares four children with her ex-husband, Kanye West: North, Saint (8), Chicago (6), and Psalm (4).
The American Dream Mall, the second-largest shopping mall in the US, boasts an indoor theme park with amusement rides, ski slopes, and a water park. North’s birthday celebration included guests like Kardashian’s best friend, La La Anthony, influencer Kai Cenat, and her cousin, Penelope Disick.
Kardashian also took to Instagram to celebrate her daughter’s birthday with a heartfelt post. “Thank God for you Happy 11th birthday, my sweet girl North. I love you so, so much,” she captioned a carousel of heartwarming photos of the two.
SZA, currently on her SOS Tour, will be traveling to London and Dublin after her performance at Summerfest. She will then return to the US for Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Montreal.
SZA kicked off the year with a bang, winning the award for Best R&B Song at the 2024 Grammy Awards for her song “Snooze.” She was the most-nominated artist at the Grammys, with nine nominations and three wins, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers on “Ghost in the Machine.” During her emotional acceptance speech, SZA expressed her gratitude and disbelief at the recognition.
Later in the night, “Snooze” took home the award for Best R&B Song, while her album SOS won Best Progressive R&B Album.
