In a recent Instagram video, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs addressed a clip aired by CNN that showed him physically abusing his former partner, Cassie. Body language expert Judi James analyzed Diddy’s apology, claiming that he portrayed himself as a victim in the video.
The video, released six months after Cassie’s lawsuit, has sparked a wave of similar cases and public allegations against the influential music mogul. During his statement, Diddy mentioned seeking therapy and asking for forgiveness but never directly addressed Cassie or other women accusing him of abuse.
According to James, Diddy’s choice of words, such as “It’s difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life,” implied that he was referring to common experiences that many people could relate to.
A body language expert analyzes Diddy’s apology video, claiming he portrayed himself as a victim.
Diddy’s use of ‘you’ instead of ‘I’ implied that his behavior was a common experience, according to the expert.
Additionally, Diddy’s statements like “I was at rock bottom” and “I had to go to therapy” were seen as attempts to garner sympathy. Dr. Lillian Glass, an expert in vocal forensics and behavioral analysis, also weighed in on the apology, stating that Diddy showed no genuine emotion or remorse.
She pointed out his monotone delivery, lack of eye contact, and dissociation from the camera, indicating a disturbing and sinister pathology. These views were echoed by attorney Meredith Firetog, who specializes in gender discrimination and harassment, as they both agreed that Diddy’s statement focused more on himself than on the people he hurt.
The CNN video, which closely resembled an assault described in Cassie’s lawsuit, showed a man resembling Diddy attacking a woman. Combs’ representatives have not commented on the specific allegation, and the statute of limitations prevents criminal prosecution for the assault.
However, federal investigators are likely exploring potential crimes under the law, as several lawsuits and a federal criminal sex-trafficking investigation have been filed against Combs.
Sean Combs and Cassie Ventura attend an event. Combs assaulted Ventura two days before this photo was taken.
Combs’ lawyers have denied the allegations and requested the dismissal of a lawsuit alleging rape, calling the claims “false and hideous.” Diddy has broadly denied the truth of all accusations in a previous Instagram post, stating, “I did not do any of the awful things being alleged.”
The security camera video, dated March 5, 2016, aligns with the description in Ventura’s lawsuit, which alleges that Combs paid the hotel $50,000 for the footage. While Combs is unlikely to face criminal charges due to the statute of limitations, the federal investigation into potential crimes continues.
Ventura, who signed with Diddy’s label in 2005, had an on-again-off-again romantic relationship with him for over a decade, starting in 2007.
