Manchester United are reportedly set to lose young forward Omari Forson, who is on the verge of agreeing to a deal with Italian side Monza. The 19-year-old is out of contract at the end of the month, and despite United’s efforts to secure a new long-term deal, Forson has opted for a new experience in Serie A.
Forson is expected to sign a four-year contract with Monza until June 2028, marking an early transfer blow for new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. Forson made his first-team debut for United last season, featuring in seven games across all competitions, including a cameo in the club’s FA Cup semi-final win over Coventry at Wembley.

Forson made his Premier League debut against Wolves
Forson’s United debut came in the FA Cup win over Wigan in January, and he made his Premier League bow later that month as a substitute in a 4-3 victory over Wolves, setting up the winning goal for Kobbie Mainoo. He also made a full debut in a 2-1 home defeat to Fulham.
Forson made seven appearances for Manchester United last season
While Forson didn’t make the squad for the FA Cup Final win over Manchester City, the club had hoped to further his development next season. However, with his contract expiring and a move to Monza on the horizon, it appears Forson’s future lies away from Old Trafford.
This development comes amid uncertainty around the future of manager Erik ten Hag, with the club’s new minority owners yet to provide clarity on the situation. Thomas Tuchel had been linked with the job but now seems out of the running, leaving Roberto De Zerbi and Thomas Frank as potential frontrunners if Ten Hag departs.
