Travis Kelce, the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, recently joked about his attendance at one day of the team’s preseason practice. This follows his hosting of the popular “Kelce Jam” festival in Kansas City the previous weekend.

The 34-year-old, three-time Super Bowl champion, attended the first day of the Chiefs’ organized team activities (OTAs) on Monday, sharing his early impressions of the team’s newest additions. His absence on Wednesday, however, sparked some confusion.

Last week, Kelce shared the stage with Lil’ Wayne, 2 Chainz, and Diplo at his musical festival. On the latest episode of his brother Jason’s podcast, ‘New Heights,’ Travis commented, “I wanted to make sure that I showed my face [at practice] after Kelce Jam.”

“It felt weird not showing up after throwing a fantastic party for Kansas City just two days before. So, I made sure to pop in and say hello to everyone,” he added.

Kelce continued, “I got to meet a lot of the rookies and new players we signed. It was good to get back on the practice field and feel like we’re a well-oiled machine. It was fun to be back with the guys.”

When asked by his recently retired older brother if anything stood out to him, Kelce replied, “I don’t want to get too excited, but we look like a finely tuned athletic machine. Guys are flying in, and it’s exciting.”

Kelce also shared his observations about one of the Chiefs’ newest players, who already seems comfortable in the team’s offense. As a veteran, he is also mentoring a rookie who plays the same position as him.

“It was awesome to see Hollywood Brown go against our defense for the first time and connect with Pat [Mahomes]. I also got to catch up with Jared Wiley, our new tight end, and see how he’s doing with the plays and defenses,” Kelce said.

“It’s always a treat to watch Pat Mahomes throw the ball around in seven-on-seven drills. It’s been a blast meeting all the rookies and getting everyone back into the football mindset,” he added.
