Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are reuniting for Practical Magic 2, the sequel to the 1998 cult classic film. Warner Bros. announced the news on Monday, sharing clips of Bullock, 59, and Kidman, 56, on social media.
Based on the 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman, the original Practical Magic told the story of two orphaned sisters, Sally (Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Kidman), who come from a long line of witches. Raised by their eccentric aunts, the sisters embrace their magical heritage, but a curse looms over them: any man who falls in love with an Owens woman is doomed to die an untimely death.
Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will star in Practical Magic 2, with Kidman also serving as a producer.
Bullock’s character, Sally, initially tried to distance herself from her magical roots until the death of her husband, while Kidman’s Gillian fully embraced her powers. Trouble arises when Gillian meets Jimmy Angelov (Goran Visnjic), a dangerous man whose presence unleashes a series of supernatural events as the sisters attempt to break their family’s curse.
The long-awaited sequel will see both Bullock and Kidman reprise their roles and serve as producers. Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the original script, is also returning to pen the follow-up.
