A grandmother became an unexpected viral sensation after being called out during a celebrity charity softball game in Ohio. The incident, which took place on Saturday in Eastlake, saw ‘Granny Smith’ step up to the plate to face off against David Njoku’s team.
With the help of her grandson, prankster Ross Smith, who boasts 4.5 million subscribers on YouTube, Granny Smith made contact with the ball and attempted to run to first base. However, her efforts were thwarted by Cleveland Browns running back John Kelly Jr., who showed no mercy to his elderly opponent.
Granny Smith was assisted by her grandson, Ross Smith, as she ran to first base.
Kelly Jr. refused to let Granny Smith slide, and as she approached the base, he stepped on it, calling her out in a move that left her breathless. The running back then celebrated with a chest bump, as if he had just made the final out of the World Series. Adding insult to injury, Kelly Jr. later commented on a post with footage of the play, stating, ‘Gotta be quicker than that, granny.’
Browns running back John Kelly Jr. waited until the last moment to step on the base and call Granny Smith out.
The game also featured other professional athletes, including Travis Kelce and Nick Chubb. Kelce, a former pitcher for Cleveland Heights, showcased his power by winning the home run derby. The event marked a return to his hometown, while his pop star girlfriend, Taylor Swift, performed in Scotland over the weekend.
