The Kansas City Chiefs, fresh off their impressive repeat as Super Bowl champions, now have their sights set on an unprecedented three-peat. However, NFL legend Tom Brady isn’t so sure about their chances, pointing out the significant challenges they’ll face along the way.
During an appearance on ‘The Herd’ with Colin Cowherd, Brady acknowledged the immense talent on the Chiefs’ roster, including the league’s top quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and the brilliant offensive mind of head coach Andy Reid. Yet, he emphasized the extremely narrow margin of error they’ll be working with.
“It’s a momentous task to three-peat,” Brady said. “To put three [championships] together, back-to-back-to-back, with drafting last, a very challenging schedule, the constant turnover in free agency, and keeping players motivated, it’s a massive challenge. The odds are stacked against them; it’s way less than a 50% chance.”

Brady’s comments come as no surprise, given the historical rarity of a three-peat in the NFL. The Chiefs themselves are well aware of the obstacles they’ll face, with star tight end Travis Kelce describing their schedule as “aggressive.”
Indeed, the Chiefs’ schedule includes a rematch with the Ravens in the season opener, as well as matchups with the Bengals, Bills, Browns, Texans, and a Super Bowl LVIII rematch with the 49ers. According to Sharp Football Analysis, based on Vegas predicted win totals, the Chiefs have the 12th-hardest schedule in the league.
Despite the challenges, the Chiefs remain optimistic. Led by Mahomes and Reid, they also boast a strong defense featuring Chris Jones and newly-signed Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown, who adds another dangerous dimension to their offense. Kelce, for one, is excited about the opportunity, telling his brother Jason, “I get to play in front of the entire world a lot, and we have the first two games against two of the biggest teams in the NFL. It’s exciting to get pumped up for early on.”

While the Chiefs acknowledge the difficulty of their journey, they remain focused and motivated. They understand that repeating as Super Bowl champions is a rare feat, and achieving a three-peat would cement their place in NFL history. It’s a testament to their talent, determination, and resilience that they’re even in this position, and they’re ready to take on the challenge head-on.
