The highly anticipated trailer for the second half of Yellowstone’s fifth season has finally dropped, featuring a brief appearance by Kevin Costner, who will not be returning to the show after this season.
The Oscar-winning actor, 69, made a brief appearance in the dramatic trailer, which was released on Friday. This comes just one day after five photos teasing the upcoming episodes were dropped.
The trailer kicked off with Costner’s character, James Dutton, delivering a poignant line: “Legacy. You build something worth having. Someone’s gonna try to take it.” The clip then cut to Hauser’s Rip saying, “What I’m doing isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us.”

Other snippets from the trailer showed Hauser’s Rip walking down a street with the hood of his sweatshirt up, Beth pulling out a knife, and a group of horses riding at night. The clip also featured Bentley’s Jamie, who seemed to be getting rid of evidence, and Beth shoving her brother’s girlfriend against a wall.

The trailer concluded with Beth expressing, “Unlike you, I keep my promises,” over the phone.
Costner confirmed his exit from the show in June, stating that he wouldn’t be able to continue with Season 5b or future seasons. The actor also opened up about his decision to announce his exit, saying it was “necessary” to avoid drama and speculation.
The second half of Yellowstone’s fifth season will air on November 10, with the remaining six episodes focusing on the characters of Rip and Beth. Meanwhile, a sixth season of the show has been ordered, which will follow the same characters.
Fans have been reacting to the news of Costner’s exit, with some expressing their disappointment and others excitedly sharing their wishes for the characters of Rip and Beth.
