Gridiron Guru Jerry Jones Tackles Season Expansion, Safety and LA Football Frenzy

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, is unlike most NFL owners. While his focus is primarily on his team, he also keeps a close eye on the league’s developments in the Western United States.

Jones has been instrumental in the NFL’s return to Los Angeles, and he takes pride in the league’s growth in the region, including the Raiders’ relocation to Las Vegas.

“I’m so rewarded by the NFL fans in Southern California, the dominoes that took place with the Rams and Chargers being in that fabulous stadium, and the way the Raiders ended up in Las Vegas,” Jones said.

After speaking with reporters about the state of the Cowboys, Jones shared his thoughts on various topics, including the possibility of an 18-game regular season, the changes to kickoffs, and his hopes for the upcoming season.

Jones is in favor of expanding the regular season to 18 games, which he believes would be beneficial for players. He also thinks the preseason should be reduced to two games, with each team hosting one game.

Jones is also a fan of the new kickoff format, which he believes will lead to more exciting plays. He acknowledges that the Cowboys need to improve their special teams unit, which has been a weakness in recent years.

Despite the team’s struggles, Jones remains optimistic about the upcoming season, citing the growth of the NFL in the Western United States as a key factor.

“I look at it more holistically, because where I am in Dallas, Los Angeles and Las Vegas are just suburbs for me,” he said. “It’s all one big picture out here. … This is a real heyday for what the NFL and football is.”
