Kelly Stafford’s Wisdom to Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes: Stay True to Yourself
Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, knows the challenges of being a football wife. However, she believes that famous wives and girlfriends in sports, such as Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes, have their relationships “pretty settled.”
In an interview, Kelly shared her wisdom, saying, “I think they have their things pretty settled and know where they are in life.” As a veteran football wife, Kelly has learned valuable lessons she wishes she could’ve told her younger self.
“You’re going to have everyone telling you what you should look like, what you should say and not say, all of these things,” Kelly said. “And if you start listening, you lose the values and everything you have that makes you who you are, and makes you the person your husband fell in love with.”
Kelly, 35, shares four children with her husband and has experienced the pressure of outside voices commenting on her relationship. She advises, “‘Don’t try to become the person that everybody else wants you to become.’ Because that’s what I did, and I lost who I was. And that goes with personality, looks, all of it.”
Kelly added, “You can’t cancel out all the noise, but try to listen to yourself before you listen to anybody else.” This wisdom is particularly relevant for Swift, who has faced relentless outside pressure as one of the most visible pop stars in the world.
Swift’s partnership with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce is going strong, and the pair recently spent time together at her Rhode Island mansion. Meanwhile, Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has been busy preparing for the arrival of baby No. 3.
