In a bold move, the Denver Broncos shook off their post-Peyton Manning blues by acquiring superstar quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks in a blockbuster trade a couple of years ago.
Similar to when the team brought in Manning in the twilight of his career, many believed the Broncos had finally found the missing piece to the championship puzzle and would become relevant once again, potentially even contenders for the Super Bowl title.
Unfortunately for Denver, the Wilson trade didn’t quite pan out, and the team released him after the 2023 NFL season, as he wasn’t the same dominant force he once was in his prime with the Seahawks.
With Wilson’s departure, the Broncos opted to start from scratch and selected a quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, bringing in former Oregon Ducks star Bo Nix. Alongside Nix, the team also acquired former first-round pick Zach Wilson in a trade with the New York Jets.
Zach Wilson made a strong impression on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, which may have secured his spot on the final roster.

Here are some reactions to Wilson’s performance on Sunday for the Broncos:
Zach Wilson has looked better than he ever has in his time with the Denver Broncos so far this preseason
Pocket presence, patience, accuracy, everything. This drive was damn near flawless by him pic.twitter.com/ZKVWlKiulV

Zach Wilson should be the QB2.
Is the floor lower than Stidham? Yes. But the ceiling is astronomically higher.
I’m aware that QB2 should typically be the more steady, consistent guy (Stidham), but this situation should be the exception.
Or roll with 3 QBs. Keep Zach.
Zach Wilson should be QB2.
Not only has Wilson almost certainly retained his job in the Mile High City, but he may have pushed Jarrett Stidham down the quarterback depth chart.
Head coach Sean Payton recently announced that Nix would be the team’s Week 1 starter, which led many to assume the team would have Stidham as the backup and Wilson as the third string or cut.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Broncos do from here and whether Wilson has a future in Denver.
