Chelsea Winger Noni Madueke Slams Wolverhampton on Social Media
Chelsea winger Noni Madueke sparked controversy on Friday night when he posted an eyebrow-raising message on his official Instagram page, labeling Wolverhampton as “s***” before swiftly deleting the post.
The 22-year-old forward, who has yet to start a game this season, had traveled to Wolverhampton for Chelsea’s first away game of the season against Wolves on Sunday. However, Madueke’s social media outburst suggested he wasn’t too thrilled about being in the city.
Madueke’s Instagram post, which was quickly deleted, showed his location as Wolverhampton, with the derogatory comment about the city. He later claimed that he had accidentally posted the message on his public account, meant for his private Instagram account.
Despite the controversy, Madueke made the trip to Wolverhampton and was part of the Chelsea squad that faced Wolves on Sunday. The game kicked off at 2 pm BST at Molineux Stadium.
Madueke has been linked with a move away from Chelsea, with Newcastle reportedly interested in signing him following the arrival of Pedro Neto. The winger has scored 10 goals in 47 appearances for Chelsea since joining from PSV in 2023.
New Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has been working to trim down the club’s bloated squad, with up to 20 players training apart from the first team. Maresca has stated that he is focused on making the right decisions for the team, regardless of the players’ contract situations.
Raheem Sterling, however, is one player who has been told to leave the club if he wants regular minutes. Sterling’s camp has been seeking clarity on his future, with a move away from Stamford Bridge now looking likely.
Chelsea’s squad is still adjusting to life under Maresca, with many players fighting for their places in the team. Madueke’s outburst on social media has added to the drama surrounding the club, but it remains to be seen how it will affect his future at Chelsea.
