Sabrina Carpenter Opens Up About Falling in Love with a More Mature Perspective
Sabrina Carpenter, 25, has a more nuanced approach to falling in love nowadays. During a recent episode of “Chicken Shop Date,” Carpenter shared her thoughts on love, stating that she doesn’t fall in love as easily as she used to.
When asked if she finds it easy to fall in love, Carpenter quipped, “Such a great question to spring on me in this chicken shop.” She continued, “When I was younger, I fell in love very easily. Now, I fall in love more – I don’t want this to sound sad – but I fall in love with some more knowledge.”
Carpenter’s first boyfriend was fellow Disney Channel alum Bradley Steven Perry, whom she dated for a year beginning in 2014. She has since been linked to several celebrities, including Griffin Gluck, Joshua Bassett, Shawn Mendes, and David Dobrik.
Carpenter has been open about her views on love, stating that it’s “the most beautiful thing in the world and the most painful thing in the world at the same time.” She hopes to find someone who is a fan of hers and whom she can be the biggest fan of in return.
Two years ago, Carpenter started seeing actor Barry Keoghan after they met at a party during Paris Fashion Week. According to a source, “They really took things slow at first, but the relationship is going strong.” The couple has been spotted together at various events, including the Met Gala and Coachella.
Carpenter’s work commitments have included serving as an opening act for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour and headlining a set at Coachella. Keoghan has been supportive of her career, attending several of her shows.
The couple has declined to comment on specific details of their relationship, but Carpenter has hinted at writing songs about her feelings. Despite facing breakup rumors earlier this month, Keoghan seemingly shut down the speculation by “liking” one of Carpenter’s Instagram posts about the release of her album Short n’ Sweet.
Carpenter’s album, which features the song “Please Please Please,” dropped on Friday, August 23. The music video for “Please Please Please” also features Keoghan.
Carpenter and Keoghan have been spotted together on the respective red carpets for the Vanity Fair Oscar bash and the Met Gala. Despite public appearances, the pair have declined to comment on specific details of their relationship.
When asked about Keoghan in a recent interview, Carpenter teased, “How do I skirt around this question?” She continued, “The [dating] pool is the pool, and when you meet people that feel authentic and are so brilliant and amazing in every way, that’s what you do. Obviously, I write songs about exactly how I feel, so I guess I can’t be so surprised that people are interested in who and what those songs are about. That’s something that comes with the territory.”
