Joey Lawrence’s Estranged Wife Samantha Cope Breaks Silence Amid Divorce

Samantha Cope, the estranged wife of Joey Lawrence, has spoken out for the first time since filing for divorce. Cope, 37, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, quoting a friend who told her, “Don’t be afraid of the tears. Let them flow. Because every tear is God gently squeezing the pain and devastation from your heart to make room for new beautiful feelings to come in.”
Cope, who is seeking sole physical custody of the couple’s 19-month-old daughter Dylan, also posted a montage of photos with her daughter. Meanwhile, Joey Lawrence has been accused of being unfaithful, with a divorce filing alleging he had an affair with his Socked in for Christmas costar Melina Alves.
Joey Lawrence and estranged wife Samantha Cope’s relationship has been making headlines since they announced their engagement in August 2021. The couple welcomed their daughter Dylan in January 2023, but their marriage has been marred by allegations of infidelity.
Lawrence, 48, has been accused of having an affair with his Socked in for Christmas costar Melina Alves, 40. Neither Lawrence nor Alves has addressed the allegations.
In the wake of the breakup drama, Joey Lawrence returned to social media, promoting his and brothers Matt and Andy Lawrence’s “Brotherly Love” podcast. “New episode of the @officialbrotherlylovepod out now. Have a beautiful and blessed weekend y’all,” he wrote on Instagram.
Joey Lawrence’s marriage to Cope is his third marriage. He was previously married to Michelle Vella between 2002 and 2005 and Chandie Yawn-Nelson between 2005 and 2020. Lawrence and Yawn-Nelson share daughters Charleston and Liberty, whom they continue to coparent.
In an August 2021 interview, Joey Lawrence said, “At the end of the day, you always take the high road. There’s no excuse for being anything but kind. [Our relationship] didn’t work out on a personal level, but we still share two amazing people. You’ve got to put them first and set an example.”
The Lawrence brothers – Joey, Matthew, and Andrew – have been entertainment staples since their days headlining the likes of Blossom and Brotherly Love. As the siblings grew up in the spotlight, their respective love lives also made numerous headlines through the years.
