Serena Williams, the tennis superstar, took a unique approach to vetting her now-husband Alexis Ohanian on their first date. In her docuseries, In the Arena, Williams revealed that she brought her agent, Jill Smoller, and her then-assistant along to grill Ohanian.

Ohanian recalled the intense questioning, saying, “It was like two hours of interrogation and questions.” Smoller corroborated Ohanian’s account, stating, “I totally tried to get the book on him right away.”
Williams was more than happy to have her agent and assistant scrutinize Ohanian, and it seemed to pay off. Ohanian proved himself, and the couple’s connection was undeniable. They bonded over their shared love of Marvel, with Ohanian impressing Williams with his in-depth knowledge of the superhero genre.
The rest, as they say, is history. Ohanian proposed to Williams in December 2016, and they welcomed their first daughter, Alexis “Olympia” Jr., in September 2017. The couple tied the knot that November and recently welcomed their second daughter, Adira River, in August 2023.
Williams gushed about her life as a mother of two on Instagram, saying, “You see, God makes your heart get bigger. Because my love for Olympia has not dimmed. My heart simply now is doubled in size and I have a greater capacity to love more!”
