West Ham’s Tomas Soucek Hailed as Hero After Saving Crystal Palace Ball Boy from Falling LED Screen
West Ham United’s Tomas Soucek has been praised as a hero after intervening to help a Crystal Palace ball boy who was in danger when an LED screen collapsed during Saturday’s match at Selhurst Park.
The incident occurred in the 67th minute, just after Soucek scored the opening goal of the game. As the West Ham players celebrated in front of their fans, several supporters fell onto the field, and an LED advertising screen gave way, landing on top of a Crystal Palace ball boy.
The boy’s clothes appeared to get stuck to the screen, and Soucek quickly rushed to his aid, using his strength to lift the screen off him. Jarrod Bowen, who later scored the second goal of the game, also helped the boy to his feet.
Fans on social media were quick to praise Soucek for his actions, with many calling him a “hero” for saving the ball boy from potential harm.
The boy was visibly shaken after the incident but was led away by stadium security staff. Bowen later scored the second goal of the game to help West Ham record their first win under new manager Julen Lopetegui.
West Ham were good value for their victory on Saturday, but they wasted several chances before Soucek finally broke the deadlock. In fact, the Hammers failed to hit the target from their first 12 attempts before Soucek successfully shot past Dean Henderson.
The win marked West Ham’s first under new manager Julen Lopetegui, and Soucek’s heroics on and off the pitch will be remembered for a long time to come.
