Foo Fighters Send a Stern Warning to Donald Trump: Respect Our Music!
Donald Trump’s campaign has once again found itself in hot water with a famous artist, this time the Foo Fighters. The band is furious after Trump used their hit song “My Hero” at a rally in Glendale, Arizona, without their permission.
The incident occurred when Trump brought out Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who had just ended his presidential campaign and endorsed Trump, on stage at the rally. The use of the Foo Fighters’ song was meant to energize the crowd, but it had the opposite effect on the band’s members.
Lead vocalist Dave Grohl and his bandmates were incensed by the unauthorized use of their music and quickly sent a message to Trump’s campaign: cease and desist!
The Foo Fighters stated that they would not have granted Trump permission to use their song even if he had asked, and they will now take steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again. In a bold move, the band also announced that any royalties generated by Trump’s use of “My Hero” would be donated to Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign.
Trump’s campaign has a history of using famous artists’ music without their permission. Previously, the late Isaac Hayes’ estate filed a notice of copyright infringement after Trump used his song “Hold on, I’m Coming” without permission. The campaign also faced backlash from Beyoncé after using her song “Freedom” in a video without authorization.
Beyoncé’s record label quickly issued a cease and desist letter, prompting Trump’s campaign to remove the video from X.
It seems Trump’s campaign has not learned its lesson, and the Foo Fighters are the latest artist to take a stand against the unauthorized use of their music.
