Gridiron Guru Hints at Racy New Chapter Beyond NFL Arena

In just four years, the city of angels, Los Angeles, will host the Summer Olympics, introducing a new sport to the global stage: flag football.

The NFL has already made the transition to flag football in its Pro Bowl, sparking mixed reactions, and its inclusion in the Olympic schedule could be seen as a strategic move to increase the sport’s global appeal.

When it comes to representing the United States in flag football, it’s hard not to think of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes as a top contender.

However, Mahomes expressed uncertainty about his ability to excel in flag football, citing concerns that his skill set and playing style might not be well-suited for the format.

Mahomes explained that the quarterback position in flag football requires a lot of scrambling, which might not play to his strengths as a traditional pocket passer.

He also hinted that, by 2028, he would be in his 30s and might not want to put his body through the additional wear and tear of competing in the Olympics.

Widely regarded as the best quarterback and overall player in the NFL, Mahomes has a long list of accolades, including two regular season MVPs and three Super Bowl MVPs.

With potentially another decade of top-level play ahead of him, Mahomes may not need an Olympic gold medal to cement his legacy, opting instead to focus on adding more Vince Lombardi Trophies to his collection and surpassing legends like Joe Montana and Tom Brady.
