The Philadelphia Eagles pulled off a stunning trade with a divisional rival on Thursday, acquiring wide receiver Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders in exchange for draft pick compensation.
Rumors had been circulating that Dotson was falling down the depth chart in Washington following a lackluster training camp, but he’ll now get a fresh start in familiar territory.
The Eagles recently shared a video of Dotson arriving at the practice facility for the first time, looking eager to get to work. He took a brief moment to address Eagles fans, saying, “Can’t wait to get to work!”

Dotson, the 16th overall pick in the 2022 draft, recorded 84 catches for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns over 29 games with Washington in his two-year stint.
He was traded to the Eagles along with a fifth-round pick in exchange for a third-round pick and a pair of seventh-round picks.
After failing to establish himself as the No. 2 wideout alongside Terry McLaurin, Washington decided to part ways with the former first-round pick just two years after selecting him.
He should fit seamlessly into Philadelphia’s offense, where A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith are locked in as the top two receivers on the outside, leaving Dotson with ample opportunities to thrive as the No. 3.
One area for improvement is his 7.4 drop percentage, which was the 10th highest in the NFL last season. However, the Eagles clearly saw something they liked, and now add another young weapon to an explosive offense.
