Ronda Rousey Issues Heartfelt Apology for Sharing Sandy Hook Conspiracy Video
Former UFC and WWE star Ronda Rousey has issued a heartfelt apology for sharing a conspiracy video about the Sandy Hook tragedy in 2013. In a statement, Rousey expressed deep regret and remorse for her actions, which she described as the “single most regrettable decision of my life.”
Rousey explained that she had watched a Sandy Hook conspiracy video and reposted it on Twitter, despite not even believing it herself. She acknowledged that she was “horrified at the truth” and was “grasping for an alternative fiction to cling to instead.” Rousey removed the post, but the damage was done, and she has carried the guilt with her for years.
The athlete and author attempted to issue an apology in her memoir, but was discouraged by her publisher. Instead, she has now taken to social media to express her sorrow and shame.
“I deserve to be hated, labeled, detested, resented, and worse for it,” Rousey wrote. “I deserve to lose out on every opportunity, I should have been canceled, I would have deserved it. I still do.”
Rousey’s apology comes after a recent Reddit AMA session, where she was flooded with questions about her historic tweet. The former WWE women’s champion is currently expecting her second child with husband Travis Browne, and has been reflecting on her past mistakes.
“I apologize that this came 11 years too late, but to those affected by the Sandy Hook massacre, from the bottom of my heart and depth of my soul, I am so so sorry for the hurt I caused,” Rousey shared. “I can’t even begin to imagine the pain you’ve endured, and words cannot describe how thoroughly remorseful and ashamed I am of myself for contributing to it. I’ve regretted it every day of my life since and will continue to do so until the day I die.”
Rousey’s apology has sparked a mix of reactions, with some praising her for taking responsibility for her actions, while others have expressed skepticism about her motivations. Regardless, it’s clear that Rousey is committed to making amends and moving forward with a newfound sense of humility and accountability.
