Birds Fly High: Eagles Soar to Acquire Electric Wideout from Nation’s Capital

Eagles Land Wide Receiver Jahan Dotson in Rare Trade with Commanders

The Philadelphia Eagles have made a significant move to bolster their receiving corps, acquiring wide receiver Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders in a rare trade between division rivals.

In addition to Dotson, the Eagles also received a fifth-round pick in the 2025 draft, while sending a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks to the Commanders.

Washington’s first-round selections in 2023, cornerback Emmanuel Forbes, and 2021, linebacker Jamin Davis, have also found themselves buried on the depth chart.

The former Penn State standout had 49 receptions for 518 yards and four touchdowns last season and is expected to slot in as the Eagles’ No. 3 receiver behind AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith.

The 24-year-old brings much-needed speed and explosiveness to the Eagles’ receiving corps, filling a glaring need for a reliable third option.

The Eagles had experimented with a combination of receivers in camp, including Britain Covey and Johnny Wilson, but it was clear that a more reliable option was needed.

Meanwhile, the Commanders are undergoing a significant roster overhaul, with a potential turnover of over 50% when the season opens.

In other NFL news, the Atlanta Falcons and cornerback AJ Terrell have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $81 million contract extension, featuring an NFL-record $65.8 million guaranteed.

The deal would see Terrell secure the largest guarantee in history for a cornerback on a four-year deal, making him the second-highest-paid cornerback of all time.

The 25-year-old was selected with the 16th overall pick of the 2020 draft after playing college football at Clemson.
