Patrick Mahomes (R) has hit back at USA flag football quarterback Darrell ‘Housh’ Doucette (L)
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has responded to a bold claim made by USA flag football quarterback Darrell ‘Housh’ Doucette, who believes he can outplay Mahomes in a flag football game.
Doucette, who led the USA to the 2021 World Games championship, stated that his footballing ‘IQ’ gives him an edge over Mahomes, claiming that he knows more about the game than the three-time Super Bowl winner. Doucette’s comments were met with skepticism by Mahomes, who quote-tweeted a clip of Doucette’s declaration, adding a GIF of rapper 50 Cent saying, ‘What he say f*** me for?’
Doucette doubled down on his claims, stating that he’s not saying he’s a better player overall, but when it comes to flag football, he feels he knows more than Mahomes. He added that NFL players should not be ‘entitled’ to a place on the Olympic squad and that they need to prove themselves like everyone else.
Mahomes isn’t the only NFL star interested in representing Team USA at the 2028 Olympics. Tyreek Hill, Jalen Hurts, and even retired Rob Gronkowski have expressed interest in participating. However, Doucette believes his USA squad would beat a team of NFL players in flag football.
Doucette’s comments sparked a heated debate, with many questioning why NFL players should automatically assume they can join the Olympic squad. Doucette believes that the players who helped grow the game to its current state should be given respect and a fair shot at making the team.
The exchange has added fuel to the fire, as the debate over who should represent Team USA in flag football at the 2028 Olympics continues to rage on.
