A new front-runner has emerged to succeed Gary Lineker as the host of Match of the Day, following Jermaine Jenas’ departure from the BBC.
Jenas was previously considered the top contender to take over from Lineker, but his recent sacking from Match of the Day and The One Show has put an end to his hopes.
Lineker has been presenting Match of the Day since 1999, with his current contract set to expire in 2025. Jenas’ departure is reportedly due to “inappropriate behaviour” in the workplace, which was brought to the BBC’s attention a few weeks ago.
