Sizzling Snub: Cole Palmer Exiled from PFA’s Dream XI, Fans Incensed Over Arsenal Favourite’s Surprise Inclusion

The shocking omission of Cole Palmer from the PFA’s Premier League Team of the Year has left fans stunned and bewildered.

The decision to leave out the Chelsea star is even more perplexing given his impressive performance, which earned him the PFA Men’s Young Player of the Year award on the same night.

The 22-year-old had a remarkable debut season at Stamford Bridge, scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists, making him the top contributor to goals and assists in the 2023-24 campaign.

Palmer’s impressive form saw him pip Ollie Watkins and Erling Haaland, who both had 32 goal contributions last season, but somehow, he was cut from the team, leaving fans and pundits alike scratching their heads.

Fans took to social media to express their disbelief at the decision, with one user questioning the inclusion of an Arsenal star over Palmer.

Others pointed out Palmer’s impressive statistics, with one fan tweeting, “So the person with the most G/A didn’t get in? What?”

Phil Foden, Palmer’s England teammate, was named in the XI and also took home the PFA Men’s Player of the Year award.

Foden was joined by Haaland and two other Man City team-mates, Rodri and Kyle Walker, who made their fourth appearance.

Despite finishing as Premier League runners-up, Arsenal have more players – five – included in the Team of Year than champions Man City.

Arsenal’s strong defensive record has been noted, with the Gunners having conceded just 29 goals last season.

This has led to the inclusion of goalkeeper David Raya, who won the golden glove after keeping 16 clean sheets in the league.

The forward’s displays earned him a call-up to England’s Euro 2024 squad, and once again he showed his quality by scoring a long-range effort in the final against Spain, which the Three Lions ended up losing.
