The San Francisco 49ers are poised to dominate the 2024 NFL season, boasting a well-rounded team that’s a strong contender for the Super Bowl title.
While the 49ers have lofty expectations, they’re grappling with internal issues that need to be resolved promptly to field the best team possible come Week 1.
Besides the ongoing holdout of star left tackle Trent Williams, a crucial component of the offense, the team is working to resolve contract negotiations with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
Aiyuk’s contract talks with the 49ers have been ongoing since the team’s Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, with the two sides struggling to reach an agreement, leading to a trade request that’s reportedly close to being finalized.
When asked if the 49ers could win the Super Bowl without Aiyuk, teammate Deebo Samuel expressed optimism about Aiyuk’s future with the team.
“I think BA’s going to be part of this team, so we don’t have to worry about that,” Samuel said.

Despite Samuel’s confidence, the outcome remains uncertain, and only time will tell if the 49ers can resolve the situation before the regular season opener against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly the most interested in trading for Aiyuk, who would be a valuable addition to their team, but it’s unclear if a deal will be reached or if the 49ers will extend his contract.
