The Future of Football Viewing: Immersive Experience in LA
Manchester United kicked off the Premier League season with a win over Fulham, but it was not just the players who experienced the thrill of the game. Fans in Los Angeles were treated to a unique and immersive experience, watching the match in a way that felt like being right there at Old Trafford.
The innovative venue, Cosm Los Angeles, describes itself as an “experiential hub” and showed the match live on an 87-foot LED screen, giving fans a “shared reality” experience. The view was so realistic that fans felt like they were inside the stadium, with the camera angles changing depending on where the action was on the pitch.
Supporters were able to watch the game from different areas of the ground, including the Stretford End, and were even served food and drinks to enhance the experience. Tickets for the event ranged from $66 to $132, with the most common price being $83.
Fans were left in awe of the experience, with one saying “This place is unreal” and another adding “So jealous. Enjoy!!”. The camera angles and immersive experience made it feel like they were right there at Old Trafford, with one fan commenting “I thought you were at Old Trafford” and another saying “This is insane, I thought you were at the game for a minute”.
The venue, which opened earlier this year, aims to lay the groundwork for the future of live entertainment and shows a variety of sporting events, including football, NFL, and UFC. Tickets are still available for Sunday’s match between Chelsea and Manchester City.
