Arne Slot Names First Liverpool Team for Competitive Match Against Ipswich Town
After replacing Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has announced his first team for a competitive match against newly-promoted Ipswich Town in the Premier League.
The Dutchman has had an impressive pre-season, with the Reds winning four out of six matches. Despite being the only top-flight team yet to make a signing this summer, Slot is confident in his squad’s abilities.
Slot has put his faith in Jarell Quansah over Ibrahima Konate at centre back, with Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Andy Robertson completing the defense. Alisson Becker starts in goal, with Ryan Gravenberch preferred in his new deeper midfield role.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai line up alongside Gravenberch in midfield, while the front three consists of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota.
Slot, who joined Liverpool after three successful years at Feyenoord, has impressed fans and pundits with his early dealings in the Reds hotseat. He will hope to challenge Manchester City and Arsenal for the Premier League title this season.
The clash at Portman Road is set to be an intriguing challenge for Slot and Liverpool, with Ipswich in action for their first game in the top flight since 2002.

Ironically, Ipswich’s last game in the Premier League also came against the Reds, with a humiliating 5-0 defeat condemning them to relegation at the end of a difficult 2001-02 campaign.
