Tom Brady’s return to Gillette Stadium is reportedly set to take place on October 6, when the Miami Dolphins face off against the New England Patriots. The news was seemingly confirmed by the Patriots’ announcers during Thursday night’s preseason game in Foxborough.
The former Patriots quarterback, who is set to begin his first year as a football color commentator for Fox Sports, will likely make his return to the stadium where he spent 20 seasons of his illustrious career. Brady’s broadcasting deal with Fox is worth a staggering $37.5 million annually over 10 years, which could see him pocket at least $375 million.
During the game, Scott Zolak talked with Jason and Devin McCourty about Brady, and let it slip that the former quarterback’s Week 5 post would be in Boston. Devin McCourty interjected with a laugh, saying, “I’m with CBS, so we don’t talk about Fox announcers.”
Tom Brady’s return to Gillette Stadium looks to be set for Oct. 6 for Dolphins-Patriots
Tom Brady is about to begin his first year as a football color commentator for Fox Sports
Brady has been keeping busy this summer, participating in a live Netflix roast of himself, being inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame, and attending the Olympics with his children in Paris. He was also spotted at Michael Rubin’s infamous White Party on July 4.
Oddly enough, only one of Brady’s assignments has been officially announced by Fox, with a Sept. 8 call of Cowboys-Browns. By the time Brady would call Dolphins-Patriots, he may have already called a New England game, with Week 4’s New England visit to San Francisco a likely candidate.
The deal is a significant one for Brady, who will be working alongside a number of other high-profile analysts at Fox Sports. With his return to Gillette Stadium set to take place in just a few weeks, it will be interesting to see how Patriots fans react to seeing their former hero back in the stadium.
