Tragic Death of 12-Year-Old Miranda Sipps: Parents Charged with Felony
Miranda Sipps, a young girl from south Texas, tragically passed away on Monday due to severe injuries sustained a few days prior.
The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office released a disturbing statement, revealing that instead of seeking medical attention for the girl’s life-threatening injuries, her mother and stepfather opted to treat her at home with vitamins and smoothies.
The Fateful Events Surrounding Miranda’s Death
According to authorities, Detective David Soward stated that when they attempted to feed Miranda these homemade remedies, she was unresponsive.
The investigation revealed that the girl suffered from severe, life-threatening injuries on Thursday evening, leaving her “mentally and physically incapacitated.” Although the exact cause of her injuries remains unknown, it is clear that she did not have any broken bones.
Over a period of four days, Miranda could only faintly move her hands and eyes, displaying minimal signs of life. It wasn’t until she began experiencing breathing difficulties that her mother finally sought help.
Sheriff David Soward expressed that the parents deliberately delayed seeking medical attention to avoid drawing attention to Miranda’s condition.
Unfortunately, by the time Miranda was rushed to the hospital, it was too late to save her life. The emergency room staff did their best to revive her, but their efforts were in vain.
Miranda’s mother, Denise Balbaneda, 36, and stepfather, Gerald Gonzales, 40, of Christine, Texas, have been charged with a first-degree felony of Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury by Omission.
