A Tale of Two Wardrobes: Drag Culture and Cross-Dressing
Political Hypocrisy or Harmless Fun?
George Santos, the ousted GOP congressman, is speaking out in defense of J.D. Vance, who is facing allegations of dressing up as a woman during his law school days. Santos believes that the line between drag culture and cross-dressing is being blurred, and that Vance’s actions are being unfairly scrutinized.
Santos, who has faced similar scrutiny in the past, notes that the images allegedly showing Vance wearing a blonde wig and a skirt seem more like a harmless costume choice than a genuine expression of drag culture. This, he argues, is in contrast to his own experiences as a teenage drag performer, where he fully embraced the art form.

Santos suggests that Vance’s situation is being unfairly politicized, particularly given the Left’s vocal support for drag culture and LGBTQ+ rights. He advises Vance to own the controversy and turn the tables on his critics, highlighting the hypocrisy of those who would shame him for his actions while celebrating drag culture elsewhere.
When asked about Vance’s silence on the matter, Santos expressed skepticism, implying that it may not be the most effective political strategy. He believes that Vance should take a more proactive approach, using the controversy as an opportunity to call out the Left’s double standards.

Santos’ advice is rooted in his own experiences as a drag performer and his understanding of the nuances between drag culture and cross-dressing. He believes that Vance can emerge from this controversy unscathed, as long as he is willing to take a stand and call out the hypocrisy of his critics.
A representative for Vance declined to comment on the matter.
