Gridiron Gridlock: Two Top Lions Rookies Sidelined with Unwanted Twists

The Detroit Lions suffered a setback on Monday as three key players, including running back Jahmyr Gibbs, cornerback Terrion Arnold, and cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, were injured during practice.

According to reports, Gibbs left practice with a leg injury, while Arnold suffered an upper-body injury and Rakestraw sustained an ankle injury. Later, it was revealed that Gibbs’ injury is specifically to his hamstring.

All three players were being evaluated after practice, but further details about the extent of their injuries were initially unclear.

Gibbs is coming off an impressive rookie campaign that earned him Pro Bowl honors. He tallied 1,216 yards from scrimmage and 11 touchdowns, playing a crucial role in Detroit’s rise to the NFC North title and NFC championship game.

Jahmyr Gibbs reportedly sustained a hamstring injury at Lions practice on Monday.

The Lions’ secondary was a major concern last season, which led to the team selecting Arnold and Rakestraw in the first and second rounds of the NFL Draft, respectively. Arnold is expected to start, while Rakestraw is projected to play a significant backup role in his rookie season.

The Lions are expected to be strong contenders for the NFC North title and beyond this season. Losing any of these key players for an extended period would be a significant blow to their chances in what promises to be a highly competitive divisional race.
