Alvaro Morata and his Italian wife, Alice Campello, have announced their separation after seven years of marriage. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid striker confirmed the split, stating that it was a “painful decision” and asking for respect and empathy. Morata and Campello, who have four children together, both released statements denying any infidelity or disrespect in their relationship.
The Spanish footballer wrote on Instagram: “After some time of reflection, Alice and I have made the decision to part ways. We have loved and helped each other a lot, and the result of our love is our four children, who are undoubtedly the best thing we have ever done.”
Campello also released a statement, saying: “Alvaro and I have decided to separate, and it is the most difficult decision we have ever made in our lives. I want to make it clear, as he has, that there have been no third parties or any kind of disrespect from either of us.”
The couple’s separation comes as a surprise, as they were spotted kissing on a beach during a family holiday in Sardinia just last month. Campello was also seen supporting her husband after he captained Spain to victory in the final of Euro 2024.

However, Campello did not accompany Morata when he recently travelled to northern Italy to join his new AC Milan team-mates. Morata was spotted without his wedding ring as he signed shirts for Milan fans.
Campello, an Italian influencer, has since removed her husband’s name from all of her social media bios. The couple’s separation has sparked speculation about the reasons behind their decision, but both Morata and Campello have denied any wrongdoing.

Despite their separation, both Morata and Campello have expressed their gratitude for the time they spent together and their four children. Morata wrote: “I want to thank Alice for everything she has done for me, for how she has taken care of me, for being the mother and wife she has been.”
Campello also thanked her husband, saying: “I just want to thank Alvaro for everything he has done for me, for how he has taken care of me, for being the father and husband he has been, and to wish him the best always.”
