Singer Elle King has spoken candidly about her complicated relationship with her father, actor and comedian Rob Schneider. In a recent appearance on the Dumb Blonde podcast, King, 35, slammed her father’s controversial comments about the LGBTQ+ community, calling him “not nice” and stating that she doesn’t want to be associated with him.

King, known for her hit song “Ex’s & Oh’s”, expressed her disagreement with her father’s views, saying “You’re talking out of your a** and you’re talking s*** about drag and, you know, anti-gay rights. And it’s like, get f*****”. She also revealed that she often goes for “four or five years without talking” to her father and doesn’t want to be associated with him in any way.

King also shared that she has tried various approaches to repair her relationship with her father, including writing letters and trying to have calm conversations. However, she stated that her efforts have been met with resistance, with her father accusing her of yelling even when she tries to approach the conversation softly.

The singer revealed that her childhood was marked by feelings of neglect and criticism from her father, who would often forget her birthday and sent her to fat camp when she was a child. She also recalled feeling overlooked on movie sets, where she would often get in trouble for making mistakes.

King’s appearance on the podcast marks a departure from her previous attempts to reconcile with her father. In 2018, she revealed that she had built a closer bond with Schneider following the end of a tumultuous marriage and her own struggles with substance abuse and mental health.

The current status of King and her father’s relationship remains uncertain, though they last shared a public moment together on stage at Elle’s New Year’s Eve concert in Nashville.
