Undeterred, Meg has been pushing forward with her music career, releasing her third studio album “MEGAN” and dropping the highly anticipated video for her international hit “Mamushi.”
After wrapping up her “Hot Girl Summer” tour, Megan teased fans with snippets and previews of the “Mamushi” video, which was finally released on August 9th, albeit with some technical difficulties. She took to Instagram to announce the video’s release, saying, “We had some lil technical difficulties lol but MAMUSHI VIDEO OUT NOW ON MY YOUTUBE!!! Run it up hotties.”
The visually stunning video was filmed in Tokyo and directed by Kevin “Onda” Leyva, featuring Yuki Chiba, her collaborator on the track, and actor Shô Kasamatsu. The video tells a captivating and ominous story, showcasing breathtaking scenery, precision choreography, and continuing Meg’s snake motif, which has been a recurring theme in this era of her career.
Megan Thee Stallion Transforms into a Deadly Japanese Viper in “Mamushi” Video
The video takes viewers on a dark and mesmerizing journey, set in a Japanese spa where Kasamatsu’s character is introduced. Megan then lures him into a trap, transforming into a deadly Japanese viper and devouring him whole. The video continues to unfold, showcasing Meg’s transformation into the venomous snake, taking the lives of the spa attendees in a series of intense and seductive scenes.
In one striking scene, she slithers through water, sneaking up on her victims before striking. The video’s climax reveals Chiba as Meg’s accomplice, as he brings the dead back to life, transforming them into blue soldiers who become part of the rapper’s army. This scene was reportedly inspired by Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s 1990 film “Dreams.”
The video also showcases new choreography and the viral TikTok dance that fans have been obsessed with since the album’s release.
