Red-Hot Liverpool Prodigy Lewis Koumas Inks New Anfield Contract, Eyes Championship Loan Switch

Liverpool’s Rising Star Lewis Koumas Commits to New Deal Amid Championship Loan Interest

Lewis Koumas, the 18-year-old Liverpool forward, has signed a new contract with the Anfield club, solidifying his future amidst growing interest from Championship clubs for a loan move.

Koumas, who joined Liverpool from Tranmere as an Under 11 player, has made significant strides in his career, breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans last season. The Chester-born forward, capable of playing out wide or as a striker, made his debut and scored in a impressive performance against Southampton in February.

The young talent is eligible to play for three nations – England through birth, Wales due to his father Jason, and Cyprus through his paternal grandfather. Koumas made his Wales debut in a friendly against Gibraltar in June and also featured against Slovakia.

Koumas’ new deal is a testament to his remarkable progress, and he is now close to sealing a loan move to a mid-table Championship club. The forward’s loan move is expected to be finalized within the next few days.

Fellow young forward Jayden Danns’ plans for a loan move have been put on hold due to a back injury that is worse than initially feared. Danns will remain at Merseyside for rehabilitation and recovery work.

Another youngster, Bobby Clark, who broke through last term, is stepping up his own recovery from an injury. Clark watched on the balcony at the AXA Training Centre as the Under 21s beat Ipswich on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool youngster Billy Koumetio is close to joining Scottish side Dundee on a permanent move. The defender spent time in France with Dunkerque last season and then was on loan at Blackburn from January onwards but did not feature in the Championship.

Liverpool had high hopes for Frenchman Koumetio, 21, after he joined the club in 2018, but it has not worked out, and he was not part of their travelling squad on a pre-season tour of the United States.
